Landon's EEG and neurology appt...

As you all know Landon was a waiting child and was suspected of having epilepsy seizures in Taiwan. When we received "the Call" we were told that they believed that he now only had "breath-holding spells/seizures". He had already had one abnormal EEG, one normal MRI and one normal EEG. He was on an anti- epileptic medication which he was weaned off of after being home for 4 weeks. His pediatrician along with us, felt it would be best to have an EEG test done here along with him visiting a neurolgy specialist. He was finally seen on Wed of this week. The EEG testing was horrible with Landon. He is so scared of the dr's, the tables, the scales, everything about the room, that of course he had many breath holding episodes but never passed out, which I was very thankful for. We had to travel 1 1/2 hours away to the All Childrens Neurolgy Hospital in St. Petersburg after putting him to bed late the night before, waking him up early that morning, no nap, and traveling almsot 2 hours with traffic! Per instruction from Dr office. Not a fun day. Did I say we had to do it alone? Yup. Anyhow, the EEG was normal! Very exciting but I was pretty sure it would be. Taiwan's technology is pretty up to date. The dr. did some other tests with him that included standing above him and dropping a tennis ball, throwing the ball back and forth, making him chase it, flashing ligh into his eyes from different angles, watching his gate, coordination and speach. He was VERY impressed and said we have a baby genius on our hands LOL. Like we didn't know that :) When he took out the light to look into his eyes, Landon grabs it away and turns it on and says "flashlight". The dr grabs his paperwork and says "didn't he just turn 2?" Was pretty ammusing as he talked to him and said "3 and 4 word sentencing? So he already knew English when you got him?" I said "no he actually spoke bits and pieces of 3 languages smiling. No English!" After completing the test he said that he is not delayed at all in coordiantion and hat his brain is working equally on both sides as far as which hand and side is stronger. We noticed that he at this point is still amadextrious with everything even eating. He continued to mimic what the Dr. Casadonta would say and do and he says " WOW he is amazing and the TRUE little sponge! Congratulations. No need to worry, no epilepsy, but I Think he may be anemic so I am ordering blood work. Many kids that have the severe breath-holding spells have an iron deficiency or anemia so we should check for that, smiling. " And that was that. Not thrilled about the possible anemia thing but very happy that we were all right with our suspicions of him only having breath-holding and not Epilepsy, even though we have been prepared to deal with that since we chose him! :) The day of the appointment Landon refused a bath in the tub for no other reason taht my das just wasnt going to be hard enough, so he ended up in the famous sink!

What great news!
I love the picture of Landon blowing the bubbles off his hand. Too cute.
Oh, and isn't it nice that now you've got an expert opinion confirming that Landon is a genius? ;)
So glad to hear that everything was normal...as expected. He's such a cutie
