Terrible 3's???

The other day when we were getting ready to go out of town Landon decided to really get ino things. He has never really done this. I never find him climbing up on dressers, with food all over the walls or any bizzare things I read about that other children do at 2 years old. Really he is pretty good about that kind of stuff. Well this day I was rushing to get everything done before Greg got home so we could just head out after his shower and the car would be loaded and everything. I was printing directions when Landon was a little too quite. We all know what that means. Well I found him covered in powder sitting on his 4 wheeler like nothing. He was pretty much covered at least, the bike, 4 wheeler all of his toys, the stair case, the floor, my shoes, his game systems, his table, the couch and loveseat. He dragged several things out to do this too not tomention the fact that teh bike and 4 wheeler were inside cause of the rain and he wanted to ride. (as if the 30x12 screenroom sint enough space) Now I can tell you I was only away from him for about 5 monutes tops. Anyone who knows us knows this is trues since he wont leave me longer than that. I can't imagine how he got that powder in all those places in the amount that was on each thing. It was piled high and covered everything including him. I couldnt believe it. In a years time he had never doen anything like this. Since it was foot powder and medicated it stunk really bad and I was concerned so I explained why it was very dangerous and I was not happy about it. He was told to sit on the couch until I could clean it up and come talk to him and that is where I put him. I do not leave things like this out. He actually went into my husbands work suitcase that he had just brought home from out of town and found it. While I was cleaning a few minutes I went back to him to tell him again why It wasnt a good idea to do this and I found him with the dog food scooper filled with water and he had poured water from the dogs bowl into each of their dog food dish. Of course the dog food was in it too! i just couldnt believe what was going on. The closer to 3 the more they get into? I know he knows better than that but thought it was fun I guess. Seriously if I could have the powder thing on film I would love to see that. I invision thing 1 and thing 2 in our family room from Cat in the Hat! Seriously ithad to look funny happening. I could only get the first picture as I didnt realize where all the powder had happened until after that and it was no longer funny at that point. I can laugh at it now though :)

Our first two kids did minimal amounts of messes and destruction, mostly at that age- around 3. Our youngest, however, is a tornado and can make a pretty disastrous mess in 30 unattended seconds. She started it at 18 months, and now, at 2.5, is only slightly slowing down (or maybe I'm just getting better at "guarding" things than I've ever been!). Seriously, my sympathies. I started taking pictures of all her messes and try to find the humor in it. And, the pictures will be great fun to pull out when she's older and can hardly believe the stories of her toddler years. :-) I wonder how having an older sister will influence Landon's tendency toward mischievousness?

I know what you mean... quiet means trouble. It is so hard not to laugh when they do cute things like that.

I always thought the terrible twos were misnamed...three was really rough with our monkey boy. Hang in there!

Great pictures! IT is kind of scary when kids do that, but funny looking back! When my brother Jonathan was 2 or 3 he did something similar. We were all in one room and he was in another and we realized it was too quiet.... we found him in the kitchen with comet poured over everything...once again, probably in about a 5 minute time frame. I love the photos we took of that.
